This new edition of Benjamin Franklin’s The Way to Wealth draws upon the authoritative text first published in the early nineteenth century.
The original images from the timeless publication have been recovered and placed within this new text, bringing the original writings of Franklin fully into their historical context. For further authenticity, the text – including archaisms – has been preserved as Franklin wrote it.
The sayings introduced and promoted by Benjamin Franklin in this book promote a good work ethic and wise attitude to life and wealth. The aphorisms and lessons within this short text are consistent with the life of Franklin, whose multi-faceted career spanned the fields of inventing, public service, activism, diplomacy and the sciences.
Rather than speak the words directly, Franklin draws upon a character – Poor Richard – as a surrogate person who acts upon his lessons. By following the advice herein, Richard is no longer so poor and has begun to accumulate wealth thanks to being responsible and diligent in both work and leisure, combined with frugality. The words exemplify the Protestant work ethic for which Franklin would become recognised posthumously by economic thinkers such as Max Weber.
Much of the wisdom herein is timeless and imbued by the life experience of the Founding Father himself. Despite the archaic imagery and wording, it is possible to gain insight and inspiration in work from this book even today. Were such a text updated and authored for the modern day, we might refer to it as something of a ‘self-help’ guide – to Franklin however, these words were simple good sense.
The Way to Wealth Illustrated eBook Benjamin Franklin
Ben Franklin was far more complex a man as I previously thought. He was able to do some extraordinary things in his life time from participation in the revolutionary war to writing the constitution. He risked everything to participate in the revolution. He was a diplomat and a strategist. This is just one of his many talents. Easy to grasp his principles.Product details

The Way to Wealth Illustrated eBook Benjamin Franklin Reviews
This was an interesting book. Some very useful quips and entertaining story. However, real practical steps to wealth probably won’t be discovered in this book.
Reading Franklin is always a pleasure, his writing grabs your attention and makes you want to read more. I enjoy reading the founding fathers as, I feel that it gives incite and context to the times and situations that they were faced with, before and after the revolution.
It's a quick read, but an insightful one. Definite recommend for any Benjamin Franklin fans,
Got one for every kid in the family. Great stocking stuffers. Good advice for any kid. A value at twice the price.
This book provides excerpts from that time period. Interesting and many of which are still applicable for today's usage.
The book itself (if it can be called a book) was very good. But I bought the $8.45 hardcover edition not realizing that it was more of a pamphlet than a book. It's 30 pages of large font text and it took me about 5 minutes, if even, to read it cover to cover. I have since discovered that the entire text can be found online free to read fairly easily. It seems to me kind of ironic to spend any money on this pamphlet that advises not to spend needlessly.
